MIT Video Competition

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 by Nadine Hellhammer | Leave a Comment | No Comments »

Many Henkel employees around the world stand up for the interests of others. To show their voluntary work Henkel launched a MIT Video Competition. One of the most moving videos was sent by Henkel employee Marco Lunardi from Brasil. He is volunteering his time in a Brazilian charitable institution called “Casa André Luiz” where he is working with disabled children and adolescents.

Following this international team of Henkel employees, feeling their spirit and watching their progress in Guatemala on this blog, makes me proud – proud, that there are so many engaged Henkel people involved in MIT and doing so much for their fellow citizens.
Best regards,

Living the MIT spirit

I am still overwelmed by the idea that a simple idea and a visit to the rural area of Guatemala can move hundreds of people, to be part of this amazing experience. When handing in the project for the 10th anniversary competition I hoped, but never really believed, that we will really get to do it here in Guatemala. And even less could I imagine the support and enthusiasm of our international team – while thinking in the beginning if we would be able to get enough people together for one volunteer team, we are now planning at least five teams, meaning over 100 Henkel employees making an impact, not only on tomorrow, but on the whole future of these families! Thanks to all for your support – and let’s conitue changing lives, the lives of the families and our own!!

As a special present to mark the 10th anniversary of the MIT Initiative in 2008, Henkel put aside special funds amounting to 100,000 euros for a selected project: the “HELPS Changing Lives” initiative in Guatemala. Through this donation and with the active support of a local MIT team, 120 families will now be helped to help themselves. And there are still a lot more projects to come…
