The last day

The last day with the families were very emotional. In the last day besides the families, the groups has an extra activity in public schools and would like to describe you about our group: we arrive early at the school and were received with a great cerimony arranged by the children. They danced for us!!!! They were visible happy doing that for us!!! After that, the men started installing the stoves and the women started making an activity with each class teaching the little children the importance of how to use the toothbrush. It was so wonderful, because as the moment we arrived in the class, we started ask some questions in a fun way for the kids and when someone answered correctly , we gave them a toothbrush and a balloon and then the kid come in front of the class like a “toothbrush teacher”… It was very funny! I also would like to tell you that not every kids had their teeths in a “good way”. Most of them had cavities and maybe you can have an idea aboute the conditions that… well, after that we went to the families finish the job and was specially fun, because we also could interact with the children in the house: we build a volleyball playWITH party ballon party!!!!
I´m returning home very happy to have this experience and intend to share in MIT BRAZIL, also the personal vlues improved to my parents, friends, colleagues.. because the problems we have are so small near theirs.
for finishing: the interchange with other Henkel colleagues were amazing! I´m very proud to be part of this company and also to carry values that are really treu: better, easier ande mpore beautiful life!!!!!!

nuestras manos

Saturday, July 11th, 2009 by Eri Aguilar | Leave a Comment | No Comments »

working in the school

today was a very intensive day concerning relationship to the people and families who are involved in the MIT projects here in the village. we visited one school in which there are teached around 300 kids between 1. and 6. classe, pre school as well. We installed the water filter and a stove, so that the mums who cook every day the food for their kids in the school have it easier and more healthy. and the kids wanted to play with us during their break.. we all had a great time playing basketball, or singing, dancing and talking with the kids. in the afternoon we implemented the stoves in the homes of the families we did the white washing and flooring yesterday. So they were already familiar with us and it was like returning back to friends we know already for a long time.

The Henkel Smile team is great, we are like a big family and even working in different parts of the world for Henkel we feel connected and after this week in Guatemala this international cooperation will increase for sure!
